Keitele Timber is one of Finland’s leading sawmill operators, known for its focus on efficiency, quality, and reliable production. At its Alajärvi sawmill, the company set out to achieve high-capacity output with consistent performance in two-shift operation, while maintaining a lean operating model. The challenge was to combine high running speeds, wide dimensional flexibility, and stable material flow with advanced automation and minimal manual intervention. To meet these goals, Keitele Timber partnered with Jartek to deliver a solution that ensures both performance and usability in a demanding production environment. 

The Solution – What Jartek Delivered

Jartek delivered advanced green sorting and automation solutions for the Alajärvi sawmill, designed to support production speeds of up to 200 pieces per minute with stable and precise material handling. The solution features electric servo-driven positioners without chains, camera-controlled feeders, and continuous-motion stacking and unloading systems. Patented stacking solutions, automated handling for loading, stickering, and transfer wagons, as well as highly efficient sorting lines enable smooth, uninterrupted flow. The result is a high-performance process operated by a lean team, combining reliability, efficiency, and modern usability.
